The Red Cape and the Surprise Picnic — Balu Stories

Leo puts on their favorite red cape to bring a special basket to Grandma, but the forest has changed!

Leo admired his bright red cape in the mirror; it was his favorite color, just like the sunset over Nova Iorque, and his grandmother’s too. He was preparing a very special picnic basket at his treehouse base, filled not just with sandwiches, but with his favorite dinosaur books to share with Grandma. Balu arrived and offered to accompany him on the journey.

As he entered the magical forest, he met Balu the bear. Balu sniffed the air and offered to help protect the basket. “Be careful, Leo,” Balu whispered. “The Poet Wolf is nearby.”

Halfway through the forest, they didn’t find a scary beast, but a Wolf wearing elegant glasses. “To pass this way,” the Wolf said in a deep voice, “you must answer a riddle about nature!”

Leo realized the answer to the riddle was something he had read about in his dinosaur books. He explained it so enthusiastically that the Wolf was incredibly impressed. However, the path ahead was blocked by a fallen magical tree. “We’ll be late for the picnic!” Balu cried.

It was time to use Leo’s special power. With a quick leap, Leo took flight, carrying the basket and helping Balu over the obstacle in a flash. The Poet Wolf was so amazed that he decided to join them to learn more.

They finally arrived at Grandma’s house. She was delighted to see Leo, Balu, and even their new friend, the Wolf. They all had a grand picnic in the garden, where the Wolf recited a poem about friendship and Leo taught everyone more about his favorite dinosaurs. Leo headed home feeling brave and happy.
