The Wizard of Oz and the Yellow Road — Balu Stories
A magical wind sweeps Leo away to a road of yellow bricks, where he discovers that courage was with him all along.
The sky over Nova Iorque turned a strange, shimmering green as Leo looked up from his book of constellations, imagining a world where dinosaurs lived free. Suddenly, a gentle, glowing whirlwind swept through the window and carried him and Luna away! They landed softly at the beginning of a magnificent road paved with yellow bricks.
Balu the bear was already there, wearing funny silver shoes. “We need to find the Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City to get you home,” Balu explained. Along the way, they met a Scarecrow who wanted a brain, a Tin Man who wanted a heart, and a Lion who wanted courage.
Leo noticed that his new friends were already very special. The Scarecrow had a great idea for a dinosaur-shaped kite, the Tin Man was moved to tears by a beautiful flower, and the Lion stood brave to protect Luna. When they reached a giant chasm that blocked the road, Leo used his power of flight to carry each of his friends across, one by one.
They finally reached the Emerald City and met the Wizard. He wasn’t a scary giant, but a kind man. “You don’t need magic to be smart, kind, or brave,” the Wizard told them. “You showed all those things on your journey!”
To celebrate, the Wizard made it rain confetti shaped like little dinosaurs. Leo clicked his heels together three times and whispered, “There’s no place like home.” In a flash, he was back in his treehouse in New York, safe and sound with Luna by his side.
